Joseph Zakreski, Sr.

The late Joseph Zakreski was an out-of-work truck driver who was given a chance to buy a sales and delivery route from a local wholesale pie bakery. In 1979 when the wholesale bakery stopped their production of donuts and pastries, he bought the related equipment and began producing donuts for his sales route. For years, his wife, Jane would bake cakes out of their home for him to sell to customers on his route. Eventually, products were added when customer demand grew. Many of the recipes used today are the same recipes used by Joseph and Jane Zakreski. It was at this point that Minooka Pastry Shop began it’s ascendancy to becoming one of the largest bakeries in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
